Georgia's Ekalata Price Comparison Portal Launches Android and iOS Apps: 16 Retail Chains in One Place
The Competition and Consumer Protection Agency of Georgia has released Android and iOS apps for ekalata.gov.ge. The state portal compares prices across 16 retail chains.
Before, prices on ekalata.gov.ge could only be compared on the website. Now the comparison, a personal shopping basket and the nearest store finder are also available in mobile apps for Android and iOS.
On 8 October 2026, the Competition and Consumer Protection Agency of Georgia announced that its price comparison portal ekalata.gov.ge is now available as mobile apps for Android and iOS. The portal itself was launched at the end of June 2026 on the government's initiative.
What the app does
According to the agency, the apps let you compare prices across retail chains in one place, put together your own shopping basket and calculate how much you can save. A geolocation feature shows the nearest branch of each store.
- Food products: 13 basic items
- Non-food products: 10 everyday items
- Retail chains: 16 of the largest in the country
- Price updates: ongoing, based on data from the chains
How prices changed in September
The agency also published figures for September. Between the start and the end of the month, the cheapest basket of 13 basic food products fell in price by 4.4%, and the cheapest basket of 10 non-food items by 5.3%.
Groceries are one of the main monthly items in the cost of living in Georgia, and annual inflation in the country stayed at 5.6% in September.
Limitations
The comparison covers only the goods on the agency's list, not the full range of a supermarket. The agency's announcement does not say which languages the apps support. The portal started as a short-term measure, and the agency says it plans to add new features and services.
