What Changed

The programme was due to end on 1 October 2026. The government has extended it until 1 January 2027 with the same amounts: 45 lari per person and 300 lari per family for housing.

Georgia has extended free medical services and social assistance for Ukrainian citizens who came to the country because of the war. The new end date is 1 January 2027. The orders were signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the Administration of the Government of Georgia reported on 5 October, and Civil Georgia and Interpressnews published the details.

Who is eligible

The scheme covers citizens of Ukraine and people with permanent residence in Ukraine who arrived in Georgia because of the hostilities and have stayed here continuously. A stay still counts as continuous if the person left Georgia and came back within 3 days.

The previous extension, reported by SOVA in July, ran until 1 October 2026. The amounts and the list of services stay the same.

Monthly payments

The Social Service Agency pays 45 lari a month to each eligible person and 300 lari a month per family as housing support. The family payment is meant for housing costs such as renting an apartment in Georgia.

If a person leaves Georgia, their 45 lari payment stops from the following month. The 300 lari housing payment stops from the following month once all members of the family have left.

Medical services

The medical part of the programme is run by the Ministry of Health. It includes:

  • immunisation, including emergency vaccination
  • treatment of tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS with the necessary medicines
  • maternal and child health care
  • mental health care in Georgia
  • diabetes management with medicines
  • dialysis
  • treatment of rare diseases and permanent replacement therapy
  • emergency care, including childbirth

Treatment outside this list is paid in the usual way, out of pocket or through health insurance in Georgia.

Status

The extension is set by government orders and applies until 1 January 2027. The government has not yet said what will happen to the programme after that date.
