Tbilisi Closes Part of Ortachala Street from 3 October for One Month: Detours and Minibus Changes
From 3 October, traffic on Ortachala Street near building No. 88 in Tbilisi is closed for one month because of works on Tsinanauri Street. Cars take detours, and four minibus routes change.
Before: traffic ran along the whole of Ortachala Street. Now: from 3 October 2026, for one month, the section near No. 88 is closed, cars detour via Krtsanisi and Gorgasali streets, and minibuses 557, 580, 561 and 562 change their routes.
Tbilisi City Hall is restricting traffic on Ortachala Street next to building No. 88 from 3 October 2026 for one month. The reason is the rehabilitation of Tsinanauri Street in the Krtsanisi district, as Tbilisi City Hall reported on 2 October.
How to drive around
- From Tsinanauri Street to Ortachala Street: via Krtsanisi II Lane, Krtsanisi Street, Dimitri Gulia Square, Gia Gulua Street, the right bank of the Mtkvari and Vakhtang Gorgasali Street, turning at the monument
- From Ortachala Street to Tsinanauri Street: via Vakhtang Gorgasali Street, Krtsanisi Street and Krtsanisi II Lane
Minibus routes
While the restriction is in force, minibuses No. 557 and No. 580 run only as far as Ortachala Street 89a. Minibuses No. 561 and No. 562 come in from Krtsanisi Street: they serve Ortachala Street from No. 92 to Krtsanisi II Lane, and Krtsanisi II Lane from the Ortachala Street junction to Volski Street.
If you usually take a Tbilisi minibus to the Ortachala area, plan extra time for the trip and check where your route now ends.
Why the street is closed
At this stage, underground utility lines and a storm drainage network are being laid on Tsinanauri Street. After that, the road itself will be rebuilt. The project is carried out by the Krtsanisi District Administration.
