Water Cut in Tbilisi's Krtsanisi and Mtatsminda Overnight 23-24 October: Shardeni, Sioni and Gorgasali Streets

GWP, Tbilisi's water utility, will restrict the supply in parts of the Krtsanisi and Mtatsminda districts from 22:00 on Friday, 23 October, until 10:00 on Saturday, 24 October. The company is working on its network near building 12 on the Zviad Gamsakhurdia Embankment and has to drain the main pipeline first. Interpressnews published the GWP statement on 22 October.

Which streets lose water

In Krtsanisi, GWP lists these streets in full or in part:

• Gorgasali Street: odd numbers 87-115, even numbers 30-50 and building 20
• Kote Apkhazi (Leselidze) Street: even numbers 16-44, odd numbers 27-53
• Erekle II Street and Erekle II Square, including building 3 on the square
• Krtsanisi Street with its side lanes and dead ends

Shardeni, Sioni, Vertskhli, Bambis Rigi, Rkinis Rigi, Okromchedlebi, Ietim Gurji, Anton Katolikosi, Tsintsadze, Chakhrukhadze and Dumas streets in Krtsanisi will lose water too. The list also names Nakashidze, Ilia and Nino Nakashidze, Nishnianidze and Kavlashvili streets.

In the same district, the cut reaches Sakanela, Abzhandadze, Sabatono, Tsolikauri, Tsitlanadze, Gulua and Gulia streets. Didi Kheivani, Akhali Kheivani and the I, II and III Kheivani streets are on the list as well.

In Mtatsminda, water will be off on Sanapiro, Chkheidze, Tabukashvili, Pkhovi, Jambuli, Sobchak, Chanturia, Brosset, Revaz Laghidze and Virsaladze streets and in the Stamba dead end.

Part of this area already had cuts in October. On 6-7 October water was off in the Old Town, and on 21 October Tabukashvili, Chanturia and Revaz Laghidze streets were without water for 13 hours.

What to do

Fill bottles, pots and the bath before 22:00 on 23 October. Most of the 12 hours without water fall at night, so cook and shower in the evening and keep some water aside for the morning.

When the supply comes back, the water may run cloudy for a while. Let it run until it clears before you drink it or cook with it.
