Mobile and Internet in Georgia in 2026: Operators and Tariffs
Phone and internet service in Georgia is cheap and fast: unlimited mobile data for a month costs 39-55 lari, and fiber reaches most apartment buildings in the major cities. The operators do differ, but mostly in coverage outside the cities, not in price.
Three Mobile Operators
Three operators work in the country, and according to the regulator ComCom, at the start of 2026 the market split like this:
- Magti: 41.4% of subscribers, about 2.43 million
- Silknet (formerly Geocell): 35.7%, about 2.09 million
- Cellfie (formerly Beeline): 22.6%, about 1.32 million
In Tbilisi, Batumi, and Kutaisi, the difference between them is barely noticeable. Outside the cities it shows: Silknet has the widest coverage, including mountain areas and roads to tourist spots, Magti leads on 5G, and Cellfie is usually the cheapest but has weaker reception in remote areas.
How to Buy a SIM Card
SIM cards are sold in operator stores in any major city and at the airports of Tbilisi, Kutaisi, and Batumi. By law every card is registered to its owner, so you need your original passport: a photo or copy of the document will not be accepted in the store. The card itself costs next to nothing, about 5 lari at Silknet, while at Magti it comes with the starter package.
All three operators support eSIM. At Cellfie it can be bought online around the clock, without visiting a store, and at Silknet activation usually costs about 5 lari. If your phone supports eSIM, this is the easiest way to get connected before the flight or on the first evening, without hunting for a store during the first week in Georgia.
Mobile Tariffs in 2026
For people living in the country long term, the best value is 30-day packages with unlimited data and calls within Georgia. Prices as of September 2026:
- Cellfie, 30 days: 39 lari for unlimited data, calls, and SMS within Georgia
- Magti "Everything Unlimited", 30 days: 45 lari, with 50 GB at full speed, then up to 5 Mbps
- Silknet, 30 days: 55 lari for unlimited data, calls, and SMS
For the first days there are short packages: Magti charges 12 lari for 7 days, Silknet offers a tourist unlimited plan for 7 days at 15 lari and for 15 days at 30 lari, and Cellfie has a weekly unlimited plan from 7-10 lari. Operators change their promotions often, so check the exact price in the app before buying.
5G and Mobile Internet Speed
Magti launched 5G on October 23, 2024 and now covers most populated areas of the country with it. Silknet's 5G so far works in central Tbilisi, from Freedom Square to Bagebi, and Cellfie's in the major cities and seaside resorts.
Mobile internet speeds in Georgia grew by 53% between 2021 and 2024, and in cities they are usually enough even for video calls. The signal weakens in metro tunnels, in basements and buildings with thick walls, in mountain gorges, and on empty country roads.
Home Internet
Home internet in cities is almost always fiber, and the market has two large providers: Magti and Silknet. Magti tariffs in Tbilisi as of September 2026:
- 70 Mbps: 40 lari a month, on promotion 33 lari
- 80 Mbps: 50 lari
- 100 Mbps: 80 lari
Connection takes from one to several days after the request if the building already has fiber. In many rentals the internet is registered to the owner, and the tenant simply keeps paying under the owner's customer number: this is easiest to settle with the owner during the first month in Georgia.
The average fixed internet speed in the country is modest, though: according to a study based on Ookla measurements, the median in 2024 was only 20 Mbps. This is mostly down to old, cheap plans, so on moving in, check the speed and switch to 70 Mbps or more if needed.
The easiest time to check the speed is while viewing the apartment: just connect to the Wi-Fi and run Speedtest on your phone. If the building has no fiber, laying the line will take longer, and for the first weeks mobile unlimited data will be your main connection.
Internet for Remote Work
For working from home, the most reliable setup is fiber plus unlimited mobile data as a backup: when the power goes out or the line fails, a phone hotspot saves the call.
If the connection at home falls short, Tbilisi and Batumi have plenty of coworking spaces with a stable line. And if working for foreign clients becomes permanent, besides connectivity it pays to understand in advance how remote work from Georgia works in terms of taxes and status.
How to Top Up and Pay
Mobile service is topped up in the MyMagti, MySilknet, and MyCellfie apps, in banking apps, or in cash at payment terminals. A 30-day package can be set to auto-renew, so it is charged to the balance without your involvement.
The home internet bill is paid the same way as utility bills in Georgia: by customer number in the Bank of Georgia or TBC app, at a terminal, or by autopay from your account.
How Much to Budget
Unlimited mobile service costs 39-55 lari a month, and home fiber internet 33-80 lari depending on the speed. Together that is roughly 70-135 lari a month, a small share of overall living expenses in Georgia.
